Judo

Judo, from the Japanese meaning "gentle way", is a disciplined form of martial art using techniques for falling, throwing, breakfalls and grappling all in a controlled environment. No punching or kicking is allowed.

Regular participation helps to enhance self-esteem, confidence, stamina, strength, fitness, co-ordination, discipline and respect. Judo is suitable for girls or boys regardless of their size or abilities, with a ranks grading system to ensure the next stage is realistic and achievable.

Judo training helps in addressing issues such as passivity and a lack of assertiveness.

Learn Judo Project

Westcoft Judo Club has been providing judo training since 1996. The club was originally based at Westcroft Leisure Centre but activity has expanded over the years to include Cheam Leisure Centre and St Pauls Church Hall, Nork.

In 2005 Learn Judo was created to provide judo training to schools in and around the London Borough of Sutton including Banstead, Croydon, Epsom and Ewell, Merton and Reigate. Current activity is largely focused on leisure centres and schools but courses can be tailored to your specific requirements.
